Firgun
I learned a word this weekend "Firgun", which doesn’t have a direct English equivalent but is described as "the genuine unselfish delight or pride in the accomplishment of the other".
In some other descriptions they also add "without an agenda".
Hmm, ‘without an agenda’ that is a personal challenge.
I love making connections. Connections between systems, businesses and most importantly people. There is no more awesome feeling than seeing a connection ‘work’.
I believe in generosity. Being generous feels great, but I also believe that when one is generous, others become generous.
So I have an agenda around connections and generosity; looking for the ‘zing’ of a good connection made, and karmic payback.
Doing a bit more research I came across the Sanskrit word Mudita, which is the same concept of unselfish joy in the good fortune of others.
There is a mind shift that is required if you want to experience this world through the lens of abundance vs scarcity, and of cooperation vs competition.
I think the concept of Firgun/Mudita is foundational, for this mind shift
As for the ‘without an agenda’ part, I am still working through that.
